Drawer slide lengths and load ratings: what 169 SISO slides show

By Furniture Components (analysis of our own catalogue) · 2026-10-31

A drawer slide is bought by length first, and then by how much it must carry. Our drawer systems catalogue lists 169 drawer slides from SISO, a Danish fittings supplier. This guide reads that range. It is a single supplier, so it shows what one broad catalogue offers, not what every maker sells.

Lengths: 250 to 600 mm is the core

Length Slides
250 mm 9
300 mm 14
350 mm 15
400 mm 17
450 mm 17
500 mm 17
550 mm 15
600 mm 15

Those eight lengths, a 50 mm step from 250 to 600 mm, account for 119 of 169 slides (70 %). The spread is almost flat from 350 to 600 mm: 15 to 17 slides per length.

Longer slides are the minority and mostly heavy-duty: the HD5300 family runs up to 1,300 mm at 110 kg, the NJ4500 family to 1,000 mm at 35 kg, and the three HD7600 slides are 813, 1,016 and 1,219 mm, which are 32, 40 and 48 inches. The odd lengths in between (311, 361, 411, 461, 511 and 561 mm) belong to the HM27 slides for horizontal mounting, whose length follows the mounting rather than a 50 mm step.

Load ratings are stated for only some slides

SISO’s catalogue states a load capacity in the product title for 55 of the 169 slides. The values that occur:

Rated load Slides What they are
25 kg 6 partial-extension slides, 250 to 550 mm
35 kg 10 NJ4500 (700 to 1,000 mm) and HM27 horizontal-mounting slides
100 kg 3 soft-close slides for understair drawers
110 kg 33 the HD5300 heavy-duty family, 300 to 1,300 mm
220 kg 3 the HD7600 family, 813 to 1,219 mm

So the stated ratings fall into clear tiers: 25 to 35 kg for ordinary drawers, 100 to 110 kg for heavy-duty, and 220 kg at the top. For the other 114 slides there is no number in the catalogue; check the supplier’s data sheet before you assume a rating. Check the supplier’s data sheet for the conditions behind a rating, such as how the slide is mounted.

Extension: full, partial, soft-close

  • Full extension: 109 of 169 slide names say so. The drawer comes all the way out, so you reach the back.
  • Partial extension: the catalogue labels 6 slides this way, all rated 25 kg.
  • Soft-close: 46 slides are flagged as soft-closing, which damps the last part of the closing movement.

Choosing, in three steps

  1. Drawer depth first. Take the slide length from the depth of the cabinet interior, then choose the nearest standard step from the table above, never longer than the depth.
  2. Then the load. Everyday kitchen and bedroom drawers sit in the 25 to 35 kg tier; tool drawers, file drawers and pull-out shelves with heavy contents belong in the 100 kg and higher tiers.
  3. Then the extras: full extension, soft-close, or a push-to-open or invisible design. Filter the catalogue by length and compare the listed features.

About the data

The sample is the 169 slides in the catalogue with product type “drawer slide” and a manufacturer length, all from SISO. Load ratings were read from the product titles, since the dedicated rating field is filled for only 40 of them. The length is the catalogue’s length field; for a few slides (understair drawers) it disagrees with the length in the title, so treat single-slide counts as approximate. Counts follow the catalogue as of 2026-10-31, and the ratings are the supplier’s own, untested by us.
